Blah Bathroom
A recent question came into our “Ask the expert” forum about bathrooms. The potential client asked the following question. “What can I expect to invest into a bathroom project. I have a typical 5×8 full bath that is tired and worn out, I dont want to go over the top, but I am pretty sure we need to start from scratch. Can you give me an idea?”
This is an excellent place to start, and knowing the budget ahead of time is very helpful to you the client and the design team. It’s also very important that you as a consumer and client have a realistic picture of todays construction costs. Remodeling can be done, and should be done on a budget. But in many cases the home owner doesn’t have a clear picture. This happens from either improper/incomplete bids from contractors who do not know how to properly estimate a project or a skewed perception of project costs and time involved from the influence of reality home improvment shows. What ever the reasons it is a part of our mission to properly educate our clients on potential project budgets.
With that said, I can offer ranges of bathrooms that we have done that fit within that scope of work. I can’t say for sure what the costs would be until we all site down and go through all the selections that need to be made. Typically a 5×8 bath will range between 10K and 20K all based on level of finish. Have we done projects for less, yes, and on the flip side, we have gone over the 20K mark as well.
It is a sizeable investment to do even a typical bathroom. I can guarantee though that it will pay back in ways not only in the financial column but in the personal enjoyment catagory as well. I hope this information has shed some light on your bathroom project. We would be very pleased to meet with you to discuss your blah bathroom and turn it into a space that is warm, functional, and inviting.
